Banned by Primetime!
The video for “Super Pretty Naughty” was supposed to be featured on the TV show Entertainment Tonight last night. They committed to doing it ahead of time. But when they saw the video and heard the song, they banned it from their show for what they deemed to be objectionable visual and lyrical content. Oh well.
The idea for the video was basically for it to be as silly and as fun as the song itself. My friend Travis Hopkins directed it (he’s working on another top secret project for me as we speak). Along with a bunch of sexy dancers, we all spent a day in a club that looks like something from a Kubrick film. Along the way, we poked more than a little fun at the clichés you see in big pop videos all the time. I hope it’s clear that we’re poking fun. The little twist at the end should drive the point home.
I gotta say, it was very fun spending a day being incredibly silly with a bunch of fun and good-looking people. Many laughs were had. But the day wasn’t all fun and games. Between takes, the girls and I had many serious discussions on topics ranging from the situation in Syria to the teachings of Schopenhauer. I learned a lot that day.
The fur is fake. So is the gold. No animals were harmed. The lasers are very real though.
